Rewarding Our Best Students

Rewarding of Our Best Students

Starting with term I of Academic Year 2008-2009, we have decided that our best students who have scored a minimum Grade Points Average of 3.5 should be recognized officially, provided that they are in good standing with the University (they have paid on time, they have a good class-attendance record, and they have not violated our Code of Conduct).

1. Associate and Bachelor’s Students:

a.  Students who have a GPA of 3.5 or better for a minimum of five courses  (three courses minimum for term III) in any one term will receive a Certificate testifying to their performance in that term, provided that they have a previous Grade Point Average of at least 3.0.
b.  Students who attain a minimum Grade Points Average of 3.5 for a minimum of thirteen courses in one academic year will also be recognized in this way, and they will be nominated to the President’s List, and may be considered for a Scholarship if they are not already receiving one.
c.  Graduating students who have achieved a Grade Point Average of at least 3.5 will also be recognized.

2. Master’s and Doctoral students:

a.  Graduating students who have achieved an overall minimum Grade Points Average of 3.5 will be recognized by an award at the graduation ceremony.
b.  There may also be awards for the best thesis or ‘mini-research paper’, if deemed adequate.
